New Pet Collection from IKEA: “UTSÅDD”

This April, IKEA introduced its exciting new pet collection, “UTSÅDD,” created with insights from veterinarians and pet product experts. This playful collection of 29 items is grounded in studies of the daily lives, behaviors, and preferences of cats and dogs at home, and focuses on four key activities: eating, sleeping, playing, and hiding. With UTSÅDD, IKEA aims to enhance home life by offering whimsical yet practical products that are easy to clean, durable, and seamlessly blend into any home decor.

The collection features colorful ceramic food bowls and a double-sided non-slip mat to keep mealtime messes at bay; machine-washable blankets and beds, some waterproof, to provide comfort and reduce anxiety during sleep; sturdy toys made from natural rubber and fabric, gentle on teeth and gums; and stylish hideaways like a modern tent and a woven house for cats.

Julia Rosenberg, Product Design Developer at IKEA of Sweden AB, highlights that pet safety was paramount throughout the development of UTSÅDD. “We formulated protocols and risk assessments based on our research, evaluations of previous pet collections, and input from our partner veterinarians and pet product experts,” she says. “Our protocols include periodic chemical, mechanical and physical safety tests on all UTSÅDD products.” Additionally, all UTSÅDD products carry a label with symbols that aim to provide clear and user-friendly safety messages, and Rosenberg urges customers to read and become familiar with these labels.

In the UK, IKEA partnered with Woodgreen Pets Charity to create a catalog showcasing rescued cats and dogs as models to promote the collection. This partnership supports Woodgreen’s mission to offer a brighter future for thousands of pets through safe shelters and expert care.
